Carlos Claiton Noschang Kuhn

About

Carlos Kuhn is a highly accomplished physicist who has made significant contributions to both theoretical and experimental physics. He received his Bachelor's in Physics from the Universidade Federal do Rio Grande do Sul (UFRGS), Porto Alegre, Brazil in 2007, followed by a Master's in Physics and a PhD in Science with the emphasis in Theoretical Quantum Physics, also from UFRGS. During his PhD, Dr. Kuhn worked on the Exactly Solvable Model for Hetero-Triatomic Molecular Bose-Einstein Condensate, demonstrating his expertise in complex mathematical models and his dedication to understanding the fundamental laws of the universe. As part of his doctorate, Dr. Kuhn was awarded a prestigious scholarship to study for a year in Australia as an occupational trainee, demonstrating his global perspective and commitment to pursuing cutting-edge research. From March 2013 to September 2017, Dr. Kuhn transitioned from theoretical physics to experimental physics, working with ultracold atoms as a Postdoc in the Atom Laser and Quantum Sensor Group at Australian National University (ANU). During this time, he developed an exceptional ability to design and carry out experiments, making significant contributions to the field of ultracold atoms. From September 2017 to February 2020, Dr. Kuhn worked at Swinburne University of Technology (SUT) as a Postdoctoral Research Fellow, focusing on ultracold atoms, topological phases, and superfluidity. His research was part of collaborations within the ARC Centre of Excellence in Future Low Energy Electronics Technologies (FLEET), demonstrating his ability to collaborate across disciplinary boundaries to solve complex problems. In February 2020, Dr. Kuhn shifted his career path to work in multidisciplinary problems as a Data Scientist. From February 2020 to September 2021, he worked as a Research Scientist at the Department of Defence, Science, and Technology (DSTG), where he developed his skills in data analysis and machine learning to address real-world challenges. In September 2021, Dr. Kuhn became the Principal Scientist - Head of the Science and Tech division at 12thLevel Pty Ltd. In this role, he used his mathematical and managerial skills to lead a team of researchers to solve real-world problems. From January 2024, Dr Kuhn returned to his academic career as Research Chair in Open Source technology, where he will help industry partners solve real-world problems in computation sciences, AI, and quantum computation.
